sizes up her prey, but he’s far away; she
looks at him looking

at another, dimly exotic beauty
who—of all the maddening things—is stalking
a resplendent young man whose line of sight she
furtively follows,

hoping to attract his attention. But he
will not be distracted from his own goal and,
riveting his eyes, ogles up another—
wonder of wonders—
