Wrapped like a sprained ankle from head to toe,
                                                                                 locked in glass
In an inconceivable country.
Spun on the sprung
Year after year,
you would not imagine yourself if you could,
Peninsulaed as you are, and rare.

Outside the window, sun rains on the Middle Ages.
An upupa pecks in the tall grass.
Under the stone walls and stone towers,
                                             the hillside unravels its tapestry,
A picnic in spring’s green fire: one man’s asleep and a young girl
Claps time for her brother who hand-dances with his dog.
