Because silence is unguarded and truth
Has an odd way of putting his snout
In at times like this I teach the children
All I know about the planets.

In the centre is the sun with his hat on
and a smile on his yellow cheeks.

Nearby Mercury the liar blowing hot and cold
small as a hailstone and throwing a long shadow.

Next comes Venus of the soft hips lying
low in the evening and too hot to handle.

Now the earth seen from a great distance
looking like a shelled pea, so small and O so alone.

And Mars the warrior red in broken armour
The dried up beds of things that almost were.
