I have this weird habit of opening a hard-boiled egg by
cracking its shell on the top of my head. This afternoon,
combing my hair before swimming, I discovered a fragment
of egg shell stuck to my skull.
  My wife understands that the habit is mysterious, even
mildly insane. But she just smiles in a lovely resignation to
the annoyances of love.
