A Note About Three Poems:

For years I have been interested in people with delusions, especially of the type called “paranoid.” It was only recently, however, that I discovered Salvador Dali's “paranoia-criticism.” In La Femme Visible (1930) Dali announced that it was becoming possible to “systematize the confusion and to contribute to the total discrediting of the world of reality.'' This would be accomplished by paranoia-criticism, a “spontaneous method of irrational knowledge.”

Paranoia imposes its own vision on the external world; it differs from other kinds of visionary experience in that the paranoid wants others to share his view—even insists on it. Paranoia is very like poetic creativity.
