Poem of the Day
Yellow Striped Pajamas
By Shamsher Bahadur Singh
walking silently on his paws, he emerges from the semidarkness and disappears into it.
walking silently on his paws, he emerges from the semidarkness and disappears into it.
Fast fella, cough it up, five cents more please.
Faster, this crap’ll kill you, like anything else
Why do I fear the true winter death to come
I guess I’ve lived without seasons much too long
Perhaps today I understand the saying
“We’re all miserable sinners.”
We all went to the Zoo.
That’s one thing done.
You’re the only creature I really love
Aside from Mama and my Teddy bear
Somewhere a boat is leaking
I don’t know where.
You have a little smudge on your forehead, dear,
like a smashed raisin cookie.
That air is you, your breathing
It’s New Year’s Eve, of 1968, & a time
for Resolution.
It’s very interesting
Weighing 500 lbs
You might even say, “it’s great!”
